Cedric Pietersz joins Curacao GCB as MD

Curacao’s Supervisory Board of the Gaming Control (GCB) has appointed Cedric Pietersz as its new Managing Director.

Pietersz takes up his position on February 1st and will oversee current licensing activity under the existing legislation and the transformation process upon enactment of the LOK.

Mr Pietersz joins the GCB following 20 years at the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten. The experience gained during this extensive tenure will significantly bolster operational, AML and regulatory compliance as Curacao enters its new jurisdictional era.

Cedric Pietersz says: “I am honoured to join the Gaming Control Board at such a dynamic time. I am confident that together with the team and the Supervisory Board we will strategically steer the GCB into a new era while delivering value to all stakeholders including the Minister of Finance.”

He joins the GCB at a challenging time, with the Curacao parliament recently rejecting the LOK (Landsverordening Online Kansspelen) law in its current form. Their decision to call for substantial amendments has left existing master licence holders and numerous sublicensees facing concerning times.

Further clarity on the proposed amendments will follow, as all stakeholders work to strike a balance that promotes the industry’s growth while safeguarding Curacao’s interests.

Cedric Pietersz will join the Curacao GCB and Ministry of Finance at ICE London, at stand N9-260.
